This 3 minute Ritual sends all tummy trouble to sleep
PS: this optimises your womb healing cleanse and deals with IBS too
Today I've just got a shortie for you. A potent one, though. Do you know that feeling of restriction after eating? Most of the women I work with especially notice this after lunch and dinner. This includes me (yes, still sometimes! Especially when I think I am too busy to cook), and it can be a real party pooper. Especially if you're only half done with your day or if you were flirting with the idea of spending some romantic time later. But there's more to it: bloating is directly related to a flight or fight mode.
Bloating (Air) restricts Space. Both elements are part of the Vata Dosha. Vata rules your nervous system. So, when the nervous system is on before you eat, your body prioritises safety over digestion, leading to indigestion and thus bloating. This airy mechanism works both ways. If your meal causes you to bloat, that in itself will also aggravate your nervous system.
A few days ago, I shared the first step to an Ayurvedic DIY-friendly at home cleanse to kick off your journey to conscious conceiving. Nabhi Therapy was part of it. But honestly: getting ready to conceive or not, this therapy is great for everyone with tummy trouble. I even taught it to my dad as part of his recovery from severe bowel inflammation.
What You Need
A base oil: sesame is a great choice. Change for almond when there is diarrhoea with burning or acidity.
Essential oils: Ginger, Fennel, Blue Yarrow and Clary Sage. Peppermint makes a good 1-oil blend. And Revive has an affordable, high-quality ready-made blend. P.S.: don’t use Clary Sage and Blue Yarrow during pregnancy. For children, I’d advise keeping a bottle of sesame oil specifically for tummy trouble. Add 3 drops of essential oil per ounce. Peppermint or a combination of Ginger and Fennel does the trick for kids.
How To
Nabhi is Sanskrit for Navel. You guessed it: the oil will be massaged into your navel. Lay down. Drip 1 tablespoon of the oil in your right hand palm. Add 3 to 4 drops of essential oil. Now let the oil flow into your navel, so it fills up the cavity. Close it with your right hand and begin to make circles with your whole hand palm. Gently press into the abdomen and rotate to the left. Try to align your breath with your right hand's slow, intuitive, healing movements. After a minute of circling (6 deep, full breaths), you may place both hands on your abdomen in a triangle shape. Your hands will take on a heart shape. Breathe. Feel how your oxygen fills up your stomach from underneath your hands with every inhale. And stay with your awareness in the Navel as it sinks back to your spine with an exhalation. Breathe for 6 full breaths or as long as you like. Can you feel the release in your tummy?
Repeat this ritual 20 minutes after each meal or whenever you desire to tame the tension in your abdomen.
Where to get the oils? Shopping Essential Oils can be a bit of a hit and miss.
I agree! I have tried at least 25 brands in the past 10 years. This includes both random brands from a market and MLM brands. For those in the US, I love Mountain Rose Herbs. For those in the US + anywhere else: I love Revive Essential Oils. Their quality is fantastic and has been a game-changer in my practice. Plus: since they don't thrive on an MLM system (Mountain Rose Herbs doesn't either), their bottles are simply much more affordable. The plants are indigenously sourced, and they offer organic oils too. PS.: use code MOTHEREARTH10 to knock 10% off your bill.
